Critical Point Multiplicities and Multiplicity Fluctuations in Heavy Ion Collisions

An exactly solvable model of nuclear fragmentation is shown to lead to a simple connection between the critical point multiplicity m c and the critical point exponent τ recently reported on in the EOS collaboration. The importance of multiplicity fluctuations on critical point behavior is also discussed.

Multiplicity Fluctuations in Heavy Ion Collisions at CERN SPS

The system size and centrality dependence of multiplicity fluctuations in nuclear collisions at 158A GeV as well as the energy dependence for the most central Pb + Pb collisions were studied by the NA49 experiment at CERN SPS. A strong increase of fluctuations was observed with decreasing centrality in C+C, Si+Si and Pb+Pb collisions. The string hadronic models (UrQMD, Venus, HIJING, HSD) can n...

Scaling properties at freeze-out in relativistic heavy-ion collisions

Identified charged pion, kaon, and proton spectra are used to explore the system size dependence of bulk freeze-out properties in Cu + Cu collisions at √ s NN = 200 and 62.4 GeV. The data are studied with hydrodynamically motivated blast-wave and statistical model frameworks in order to characterize the freeze-out properties of the system. The dependence of freeze-out parameters on beam energy ...

Study of Event-by-event Fluctuations in Heavy Ion Collisions

We propose Kolmogorov-Smirnov test as a means for recognising event-by-event fluctuations of rapidity distributions in relativistic heavy ion collisions. Such fluctuations may be induced by the spinodal decomposition of the rapidly expanding system during the 1st order quark-hadron phase transition.
